Emissions

LPG has a number of environmental benefits over diesel.

Each litre of LPG has a smaller carbon content than diesel, so for the same amount of fuel consumed less CO₂ will be emitted to the atmosphere. It is also an inherently low sulphur fuel compared to diesel, though recent advances in de-sulphurisation mean that diesel is catching up.

Evidence and research in many countries indicates that Noxides and particulates are reduced by fitting a dual fuel system. Over the next few months GSPK Multifuel Technology will be undertaking its own research to provide accurate data on just how much these emissions are reduced.

Performance

There is a noticeable improvement in engine performance when LPG is added. Most of the time this helps to improve fuel efficiency because you change gear less often and can use a higher gear ratio, but extra flexibility also comes in useful when you need to pull away on a hill to overtake a slower vehicle. However, the system is carefully mapped to ensure that there is no increase in maximum power or torque, protecting the engine and drivetrain from damage.
